I am very pleased to announce that I will perform with Daniel Proietto in Simulacrum we premiere at Oslo Opera House, Norway, on 13th, 14th and 15th of October, 2016.
The project started a couple of years ago on the initiative of Alan Lucien Øyen, director and choreographer of Winter Guests.
Daniel Proietto is a 33-year-old Argentine contemporary dancer. As a young boy he left his home country for Europe where he danced in numerous companies, and in 2010 the magazine Dance Europe praised him as the Dancer of the Year. He had stayed in Japan to learn onnagata of kabuki and classical Japanese dance. In Simulacrum he plays the role of my deceased mother dancing onnagata.
The rehearsals started two years ago. From November 18th to 21st, 2014, we held a workshop at Centre Choréographique National de Caen (CCNCBN), France. On the last day we held a public rehearsal following the choreography of Øyen. This year we have been having an elaborate rehearsal from the end of May to the middle of June in Oslo Opera House, and from June to the end of July in Maryland, America.
Simulacrum tells you a story of my whole life and that of Daniel expressed through flamenco, contemporary dance and kabuki. We also use lines in Spanish, English, and Japanese.
